Our Heritage
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church sprang forth from simple beginnings. The local Finnish community, in a desire to encourage a moral lifestyle and provide an uplifting social outlet, founded the Finnish Temperance Society. From these humble beginnings, the Cloquet Independent Finnish Lutheran Church was born. Incorporated in 1898, this forerunner of St. Paul’s Lutheran church, began an outreach to the city of Cloquet that has continued strong for 110 years. We have seen the miraculous acts of God spanning fires, various building programs, wars, and societal shifts. We invite you to join in this wonderful heritage of faith.
